Focusing on your self-improvement, personal development, or personal growth is important.  Whatever you want to call it, is an everyday thing.  It’s the process of identifying who are you are a person, and being happy with who that is.  Looking to self-improve develops you mentally, spiritually, and physically.  You want your end game to feel confidence when you wake up in the morning with no self-doubt about who you are. Yet, doing this can be complicated and becomes a struggle.

The way to prompt and encourage this type of personal growth is to challenge yourself every day.  Review below for 21 ways that can help stimulate those actions.

1. Self Reflect

Personal Growth is done by self-reflecting on yourself in order to self improve. Knowing yourself is really finding the real meaning of who you are as a person, and why you do the things you do.  Becoming comfortable with who that person is, and looking for ways to change your mindset to happy.

2.Notice the people around you

Rid yourself of those that bring you down. Surround yourself with people who encourage you.

3. Stop comparing yourself

Every person has a different life behind closed doors. What you see on the outside is never the whole story, and each person has their own struggles and accomplishments.

4. Practice being present

Taking a moment to be present and reflect on what’s around you can bring insight on why you do the things you do. You may be able to find triggers to habits you have that you can turn into positive ones.

5. Develop a hobby that makes you happy

When we find a new hobby, we tend to indulge ourselves in it. You learn something new and become as much as a hobby expert as you can.  At the end of a stressful day, your hobby should make you be able to unwind and take your mind off the day.

6. Journal

Whether you decide to write professionally or personally, it can be therapeutic. There are many ways you can use a journal. From tracking your daily gratitude, using it as a bullet journal, to-do list to keep your days organize, or keeping track of your personal growth and goals. 

7. Meet new people

Getting out and meeting new people can expand your network. You learn new ideas, new perspectives, and can find new opportunities in life that will take you new places.

8. Create a process

Know what to expect everyday, with just a little bit of added adventure. When you know what’s coming everyday, you are more likely to prepare and be ready to take on the day.

9. Pick up a book

10. Give yourself permission to grow

There will be fails, and you will notice flaws. Know that you will see these things in order to grow. You can’t self-improve without first self-reflecting on yourself. When you set yourself up knowing you will have stops in the middle, you will find yourself having personal growth in so many more ways.

11. Laugh

Laughing is the best medicine. When you spend your days with laughter, the stress seems to disappear even just for a few seconds.  It’s healthy and you should be finding joy whenever you can.

12. Be the leader

Don’t follow the crowd, instead choose and lead your own way.  Don’t let others dictate what you can and can’t do. Find something you are passionate about and lead the way to something better. Make a difference. 

13. Make a list of things you like about yourself

When you find what you love about yourself, you will be open to new ideas of creating new ways to love yourself. They will also point out things you want to improve on so you can grow. Everyone has flaws, don’t let them get you down. Instead embrace them and improve in areas you would like to do better in.

14. Listen & always be questioning

Open your ears, and really take in what is going on around you. Practice mindful listening. Don’t just take what others tell you as 100%. You should always be questioning, researching, and finding your own outcomes. When you actually listen to others around you, you can then ask questions to keep your mind learning. Put yourself in conversations that make you think and want to learn more.

15. De-clutter your life

Do you get attached to your stuff emotionally? It’s common and you end up with mounds of stuff that take over your home and clutter your mind as it fills up your space.  De-clutter areas that aren’t needed and you’ll feel refreshed with the open space that becomes available.

16. Forgive

We all make mistakes, and we should be gentle with how we treat ourselves afterward. This also applies to those that hurt us. Do not allow those actions think less of yourself. Let yourself let go of the ones that have hurt you so you can move on. 

17. Take note of your core values

What is most important to you? Write them down and put them in a place that you will see them everyday.  Reflect daily on if you are keeping up with those values.  Make changes if you feel you need to change your lifestyle in order keep those values strong.

18. Track your habits

Get rid of those bad habits and improve them by changing them into positive ones.  Keep notes of your triggers so you can work on moving those out of your life so you can make better routines to a healthier lifestyle.

19. Chase your dreams

Soon, success will follow you as you find things that you enjoy.

20. Fake it till you make it

Choose confidence, even if you’re still lacking. Overcome your fears by hyping yourself up telling you that you are the best thing that has walked through the door. When you give off the feeling of confidence, others will see you that way and you won’t have to have impostor syndrome anymore.

21. Be honest with yourself

Personal growth is a process that never ends, and something that needs to be worked on everyday.  Be honest with yourself on where you are at in your life and how things are going so you can positively continue on your journey to your best self.
